The demographics of America are changing. It’s not just the mountains and seas and the landscape that are transforming rapidly, but also the racial and cultural appearance of its people. And that’s not a bad thing – in fact, diversity is something that should celebrated in this nation! Every year America is turning less and less white, according to some studies. Interracial relationships are becoming more prevalent, and more people are beginning to not identify with one particular race.
Lise Funderburg and photographer Martin Schoeller then took to the task of simulating the findings of these studies in a compilation of manipulated images showcasing what an “average American” will look like in the year 2050, should trends continue the way they’re going.
